Can Atheists Be Trusted

An atheist is suing the U.S. Army because he was allegedly harassed by other soldiers for his beliefs (or lack thereof). Now if this did happen I would say that it was wrong and that something needs to be done about it.

However, I always question the voracity of allegations such as this when made by atheists and agnostics. For the the last century or so nonbelievers have made it their mission in life to generally be a thorn in the side of believers and do everything in their power to tear down Christianity.

Notice I didn't say religion since it seems that they really only attack Christians. They claim to believe in religious freedom or freedom from religion but they don't practice what they preach, no pun intended. For people who claim not to believe in any higher power they sure do protest a lot. If there is no God and we all cease to exist when we die then it seems to me that they are wasting an awful lot of time fighting a "nonexistent" foe.

And why do they seem to direct most if not all of their animus toward Christians. Not Jews, Muslims, Buddhists or Scientologists. Just Christians. Something to think about.

Flip flopping again

The New York Times has an interesting article about the military success in Iraq and the new balancing act (flip flopping) that the Dems are having to maneuver:

As violence declines in Baghdad, the leading Democratic presidential candidates are undertaking a new and challenging balancing act on Iraq: acknowledging that success, trying to shift the focus to the lack of political progress there, and highlighting more domestic concerns like health care and the economy.

When we win in Iraq I bet that the Dems will try to take the credit for it.

Thanks go to Drudge for this.

Another tiny dictator

Well Hugo is again showing himself to be the dictator that he claims Bush to be. This post by Hugh Hewitt is just further proof that the darling of liberal Hollywood is nothing more than a power hungry, tin-pot dictator with delusions of grandeur.

Pentagon: "Whoops"

Well the Pentagon has released a statement regarding the return of signing bonuses. According to them the notices that were sent to injured soldiers saying that they had to return their signing bonus were sent by mistake.

Whoops.

Gee, imagine that, the vaunted Federal government made a mistake. But wait that can't be. It must be all Bush's fault.

Yeah right!

The Return of the City-State

The case of Elvira Arellano and other instances of illegal immigrants seeking sanctuary in various places in this country has brought up the trouble possibility of the return of a medieval concept: the city-state. Several cities in this country have declared themselves "sanctuary cities" for illegal immigrants. This is a violation of federal law.

The Constitution of the United States distributes certain powers to the federal government, reserving all other powers for the states. One of the duties of the federal government is to protect the people from foreign threats. One of the ways that it does this is by regulating the flow of people entering this country. In order to do this it relies on state and local law enforcement to keep it advised when they detain suspects that they believe might be here illegally.

After 9/11 security tightened everywhere around the country except at the borders, particularly the border with Mexico. Billions of dollars were given to state and local governments for the express purpose of “homeland security”. This security requires that federal, state and local law enforcement agencies cooperate in intelligence gathering and the apprehension of suspects. Unfortunately some cities refused to be a part of the United States instead preferring to declare themselves “sanctuary cities” for illegal aliens. This means that the police and other law enforcement agencies are not allowed to determine if a suspect—even of a violent crime—is an illegal or not.

These cities seem to have no problem taking federal funds for their social services, but when the feds need them it's just too bad. Since the Patriot Act and subsequent national security legislation were signed, cities have been wrangling for their share of the funding pie. Some of the larger cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco felt shorted because smaller communities were receiving nearly equal amounts of federal dollars. The larger cities demanded that the money be redistributed to them since, as they claimed, they were more likely targets.

The hypocrisy is that these same cities refuse to determine whether their residents are here legally. This strikes me as the antithesis of “security”. Considering how many illegals turn out to be guilty of other crimes in addition to their immigration violations, it concerns me that there are cities who are harboring criminals.

What The F#&k?!

I was listening to Neal Boortz this morning and he was reading a story about one of our soldiers that had been injured so severely in Iraq that he was unable to return to duty. In response, the Defense Department sent him a letter informing him that he would have to return around $3000 of his enlistment bonus because he didn't fulfill his commitment.

What the f#&k?!

It's bad enough that this soldier was permanently disabled in service to his company. But now bureaucratic pencil pushers in the Pentagon are trying to bleed him for his signing bonus? This kind of governmental b.s. is why I'm a libertarian.

When I find some more info I will post it, hopefully with a news link.

My YouTube Republican Debate Animation

This is the animation that I did for the YouTube Republican debate. It refers to the FairTax, a proposal that would eliminate the IRS and repeal the 16th amendment to the Constitution in favor of a national retail sales tax. To find more info on the FairTax go to FairTax.org.

The animation was done in ToonBoom Studio and compressed in Ulead Media Studio Pro.

YouTube Debate and Political Animations

Wow! I just realized that it has been over two months since my last entry. Well I have been working on some political animations as of late and that is keeping me busy.

There are two animations that I am working on to submit to the YouTube Republican debate in September. One is on the Fair Tax and the other is on downsizing the federal government. If I have enough time I would like to also do one on the Fairness Doctrine. But I procrastinate notoriously so I'll be blessed if I get the Fair Tax spot done.

Conyers is an idiot!

I just read an AP report that Fox made a mistake with one of its segments and now Rep. John Conyers D-Mich., is playing the tried and true Democrat race card. Fox was reporting about the recent indictment of Rep. William J. Jefferson of New Orleans (and another Dem-bulb) and they accidentally showed archive footage of Conyers. This is a common mistake that happens all of the time in the hectic world of 24-hour news. Stuff happens.

However, as with most brain-dead liberals, Conyers jumps on a mistake and turns it into a racial incident. I mean what would have happened if they had run footage of John Edwards when they were talking about Bill Richardson? Would Conyers then say that Fox was racially biased against white men, in favor of Hispanic men or vice versa?

But we all know that the only way for some Dems to get reelected is to play to there ignorant base. Because we all know that Fox news is racist and that Carl Rove secretly runs the world, and that Rosie O'Donnell blew up the World Trade Center. Lions and tigers and bears, oh my.
